Blogmas day 3: My winter essentials

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

Today I want to share with you all something I've been excited to post for a while now, but felt it was too soon to do. However now that it's December, and the weather getting so much colder, I felt it was time to share with you all, my winter essentials!

Originally, I wanted to own each individual item, to take pictures of, and make this into a series, but with me being a student with no job, I realized that wasn't going to happen any time soon. However I have taken pictures of what I do own.
I really hope you enjoy this post, so lets get started.

Wardrobe:

  • Boots - I personally love boots, and am desperatly wanting yet another pair. Flats are perfect for daytime, especially if you walk a lot, like I do. I wear the same boots constantly until I wear them out, which probably isn't a good thing LOL
  • Jeans - I much prefer jeans to leggings, because they keep you warmer. I think dark wash jeans are great for winter because it is known that dark colours keep you warmer, however any colour of jeans are fine. What I don't like about jeans, though, is how they cling to you when it's been raining, so uncomfortable.
  • Jumpers - I am loving jumpers this year. I used to be obsessed with hoodies, but I've kinda gone off them this year and much prefer jumpers to keep warm. I only have 2 but it's enough for right now.
  • Hoodies - Although I prefer jumpers now, I still love hoodies, especially for lazy days lounging around the house.
  • Knitted cardigan - These are the same as jumpers, they keep you warm and look great.
  • T-shirts - I think t-shirts are better at keeping you warm than blouses/shirts, and they are much cheaper. I personally buy from the mens section in Primark because they are only £3 and are comfortable!
  • Fuzzy socks - Who wouldn't want fuzzy socks? They keep your feet warm and if you slather your feet in lotion first you'll end up with super soft feet. I wear mine constantly, and when it's especially cold out, I wear them on top of my regular socks
  • Socks - Well you need to keep your toes warm, and because your feet are covered, you don't want your shoes to get smelly :P
  • Tights - I like to wear these under my jeans when it is super cold, because it just keeps you warmer. Also with tights you can get away with wearing a dress or a skirt, just make sure the tights are thick
  • Scarf and gloves - I love wearing scarves they are really fashionable and keep you warm. Gloves are great at keeping your hands warm, which then stops them from getting chapped/dry. I like to slather my hands in hand cream before putting my gloves on to keep them soft. I recently bought a pair of touch screen gloves from the pound store, meaning I no longer need to take my gloves off to use my phone! Genius!
  • Pyjammas - I like to lounge around in comfortable clothes in the winter, and what's comfier than pyjamas, right? I often get mine from Primark, cheap and cosy
Body:

  • Exfoliater - Winter dries out your skin so you need to exfoliate it all off
  • Body butter - I think body butter is better in the winter than a body lotion because it is thicker, and you want to keep your skin soft
  • Foot lotion - For baby soft feet
  • Hydrating face mask - This can be store bought or homemade. I find that my face mask is rather hydrating if you want a home made one
Make-up:

  • Hydrating foundation or BB cream - Because your skin gets really dry in the winter, I find that my foundation needs to be really hydrating, this often means that full coverage isn't the best option as that tends to be drying. BB creams are great because you also have SPF in them and even in winter you need an SPF
  • Primer - Again you need to keep your skin hydrated and I find that a primer great. Use your moisturiser and your primer and you'll still have soft, beautiful skin
  • Cream blusher - I find that cream blusher gives a much more natural look than powder blush does in the winter, because your cheeks will get naturally blushed when your outside in the cold.
  • Lip balm - I love lip balm and use it constantly to keep my lips soft. If you wear lipstick a lot, you'll know how important it is to have soft lips for your lipstick to look good, and lip balm is a cheap way to do that
  • Dark nail polish - I don't know why but I much prefer to wear dark nail polish in the winter than bright, I guess it just makes me feel warmer (if that makes sense)
Misc:

  • Blanket - To lounge around with and keep warm
  • DVD's, books, and games - You need something to do during those long cold nights in
  • Hot chocolate and tea - Hot drinks to warm you up from the inside
  • Hot water bottle - Perfect to cuddle up with under your blanket to keep you warm
  • Bubble bath - Sinking into a warm bath after a long day is the best way to unwind
  • Candles - Lighting a scented candle makes me feel all warm and cosy inside
  • Vitamin C and hand sanitizer - To try and stop yourself getting sick
  • Tissues and Flu and cold medication - If you do get a cold (and you probably will) you'll want to get well quickly, so keeps these close by
Well that's all for today. I'm sorry this post is rather long, but I really enjoyed writing it.

Let me know if you would add anything to this list, what are your winter essentials?

And last but not least, here is today's advent chocolate. I had to look closely to figure out what it was supposed to be, I hope you have better luck.

Leave what you think it is in the comments below. I've been looking for prize ideas, and I have an idea what it will be, and I, personally, of course, think it's a great prize. So if you want a chance to win, tell me what you think my advent chocolates are.

Have a beautiful night

  1. I love unpacking all my cosy winter pjs and fuzzy socks at this time of year - it's so nice to be snug when it's cold outside! And I definitely need to stock up on winter makeup essentials too: a richer moisturiser and lipbalm are must haves!

I'll take a guess at a Snowman for your chocolate of the day! :-)
