DIY British Beauty - Honey and banana face mask

Hey girls, I hope you are all well.

Today I wanted to share with you all a recipe for a face mask that I created. I say I created it, because I didn't find the recipe anywhere, but that doesn't mean that someone else hasn't made this before.
When I created this, I had been looking online for ages for a face mask using banana's because I had heard about the good stuff banana's do to your skin.

Banana is very good for skin. It makes your skin silky and smooth by nourishing it with the essential nutritive elements. Banana contains a good amount of vitamin C which helps in deep cleansing the skin and also helps in preventing inflammatory diseases.

After not being able to find a recipe online, I decided to just go to my kitchen and see what I had in my cupboards and low and behold I found some honey. Now I'm sure you all know the amazing things that honey does for your skin, but in case you don't I'll let you know.

Honey has antibacterial properties, which helps in fighting acne and pimples. It reduces infection and is a very effective home remedy to treat acne. It is a good cleanser for skin as it soak ups impurities from the pores of the skin, leaving your skin clear and clean. Honey is a very effective moisturiser for skin. It retains moisture making your skin radiant, soft and supple.
Honey properties protect your skin under the sun and assist the skin to rejuvenate and stay young.
It's a natural remedy to prevent wrinkles, slowing down the ageing process, with antioxidant properties making it capable to fight against skin damage and skin ageing.

I also found some lemon juice which I thought I would throw in there, not really knowing of any benefits of it, but knowing it couldn't be bad. Actually, whilst writing this I decided to to a little research to find out what lemon juice does for the skin, and I found out that it diminishes scars, heals acne and exfoliates the skin. If you want to learn more, check out this awesome website.

Ok so that was a super long introduction but I will get into the recipe now.
This is probably one of the easiest home made face mask you will find.

What you are going to need is a bowl, a knife, a fork, a chopping board, a banana, honey and lemon juice.

You aren't going to need an entire banana, unless you are making for more faces. I usually use about a 5th of the banana which is more than enough, then just eat the rest.

Now you're going to take your fork and mash it up until it looks as yummy as......

The beautiful beast.

Once you're done just scrape it into your bowl.

Then take your honey and teaspoon

And scoop out about half a teaspoon. I find that running the honey and spoon under hot water for about a minute helps the honey slide off the spoon.
Then mix mix mix mix mix

Once you have done that just add a few drops of lemon juice and mix again. You don't want more than 3 drops otherwise your mask will become watered down and you don't want that.

Now I like to put mine in the fridge for a few hours. You don't have to, but I just like the cooling effect it has on my skin.

And that is it. Put it on and relax for about 15-20 minutes then rinse off for glowing skin.
I try to do this once a week, and hardly ever miss a week and have been doing it for a few months with a whole facial routine, which I will be posting in a couple of days so be sure to check back for that, if you want to know how I do an at home facial.

Let me know if you try this and what you think. And if you have any face masks, home made or store bought, that you swear by, let me know in the comments below, as I would love to know.

That is all for today, I am so sorry that this was so long, but I hope you found it helpful. And be sure to check back for my facial routine.

Have a beautiful night girls and don't forget to dream beautiful dreams and live beautiful dreams.

xx

25 random questions tag!

Hey girls, wow it has been a while since I last updated this. To be honest I don't really have a reason for that, so I'm sorry.

Anyway today I wanted to do the 25 random questions tag. This is a really old tag that went around YouTube a few years ago, but I thought it would be fun to do on here. And I tag you all to do this and leave me the link below.

1. Do you have any pets? Personally no, but in my family we have 2 dogs, 3 budgies and a couple of fish. We did have more pets but they died with age.
2. Name 3 things that are physically close to you. My cup (I just finished my cup of tea) my phone and my notebook with my to do lists and blog post ideas
3. What's the weather like right now? It has just stopped raining and the sun is trying to get out. It's still kind of cold though, which is nice because it's supposed to be :)
4. Do you drive? If so have you crashed? No, I want to drive but I can't afford to right now
5. What time did you wake up this morning? 10am which is quite late for me, I normally don't wake up later than 9am
6. When was the last time you showered? Yesterday morning. That sounds disgusting that I didn't shower this morning, but I normally shower at night so I will shower today
7. What was the last movie you saw? If this means new movie, it was probably The Avengers, I'm too poor to go out. If it means any movie in general it was Winnie the Poohs Greatest (Grandest?) Adventure. That is such a cute movie, and it always makes me feel a little bit nostalgic and also sad for Pooh and his friends.
8. What does your last text message say? Thanks babe :) good news, I got internet :P xx from my friend last night at midnight when I was asleep.
9. What's your ringtone? Pocketful of sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield.
10. Have you ever been to a different country? I went to Gran Canaria when I was 10
11. Do you like sushi? I like vegetarian sushi. I tried it on my way to Summer in the city and keep forgetting to look in Tesco for it, as I really want some more
12. Where do you buy your groceries? Tesco, but personally I prefer Asda, it's just that Tesco is much closer
13. Have you ever taken medication to help you fall asleep faster? Nope, and I don't plan too
14. How many siblings do you have? Just one younger brother
15. Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop? Laptop. Sometimes I wish I had a desktop, but then I remember I like lying in bed with my laptop watching movies/ TV shows
16. How old will you be turning on your next birthday? 20. When I say that I feel quite old, but with starting university I'm feeling quite young. Probably because I'm one of the youngest people there rather than the oldest, plus my friend is going into his final year even though he isn't much older than me.
17. Do you wear contacts or glasses? No, I actually have pretty good vision, which I am really lucky with.
18. Do you color your hair? Yes, although I try not to do it too often. I haven't done it since June and my colour is fading badly.
19. Tell me something you are planning to do today. I'm planning on reading. Hopefully I'll get pretty far through it, which I am excited for
20. When was the last time you cried? Today, right before I started writing this post. I haven't seen my mum in a while, and she wasn't supposed to be coming to see me until Sunday, the day I start university, so I didn't feel like I would really get to spend quality time with her until Christmas, and I just started crying
21. What is your perfect pizza topping? I normally just go for margherita because I'm a fussy vegetarian
22. Which do you prefer-hamburgers or cheeseburgers? Neither because I'm a vegetarian, but if I was making my own I'd say cheeseburger
23. Have you ever had an all-nighter? Yes, but then I fell asleep at 7. It still counts though, right?
24. What is your eye colour? Hazel, although sometimes they look more chocolatey
25. Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke? Yes. Pepsi is sweeter, although I don't really like either

I hope you enjoyed this post, and like I said before I tag you all to do it.

Talk to you all soon.

Have a beautiful day and

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

Ins and Outs - August

Hey girls, I hope you are all well.

It's pretty late, but I wanted to share with you all my Ins and Outs of August. Remember, I said in last months post, that I had an idea of a way to make this post longer? Yeah, well I didn't do it, but I've already started to do it for this month; and that makes up for it, right? :P
Anyway, onto the post.

In:

  1. True Blood - This month it was the main programme I watched this month. I was obsessed! I watched every episode from season 1 to the final 2 episodes of the latest season. I haven't watched the last 2 episodes yet though, and I don't really know why, I guess because I was watching them all, caught up, then didn't know what day it was on. I know now that it was Monday's but it's too late now haha. I'm planning on watching the episodes in the next couple of days and I am really excited.
  2. Elle Fowler - This one didn't become an obsession until about 2 weeks ago, although I started watching her videos from the beginning back in June, I just stopped when I went away. I wanted to watch all of her videos in order of upload, and I have done that with her beauty channel, now I'm doing it with her vlog channel. I am obsessed with her. She inspires me, and I feel like we are very similar, and have the same sort of style, she just appears happier than I do, and that's what I want to be like. I don't  want to copy her, and do everything exactly like her, but I want to have her attitude on life, so I want to copy that side of her, if that makes sense.
  3. Getting into university - I feel like I have mentioned this quite a lot on here, but it is something I am so proud of and it's been the best thing that has happened to me all month, probably all year. I can't wait to start, and I'm actually planning some posts about organisation and studying whilst having a social life (well once I've worked that out :P) and maybe living on a budget, because I got my student finance letter today and realised that I am going to starve if I don't have a job haha

Out:

  1. Wanting summer weather - As you probably all know, I am obsessed with autumn and winter right now and I can't wait for it to start getting colder officially. Don't get me wrong, it was really hot today and I loved it, I think I just get fed up wanting warm weather in the summer months, living in England, and want it to be the weather you expect. Also I love anything winter related, like scents and drinks and clothes, and of course my birthday is in October and there's Christmas.
Well it looks like that is all for this month. It's so short this month, like shorter than normal. Oh well, hopefully next month will be longer.
What are your Ins and Outs of August? Let me know in the comments below.

I have a huge list of blog post ideas, so I might try and write some of those this week, but I'm trying to make this week my last week of doing nothing and not caring about it, because I want to start getting ready for university. I'm hoping to read quite a bit this week, so I'm looking forward to that.

Okay I'm going to go before this post gets super rambly.

I hope you all have a beautiful night.

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives
